What this website collects
Very little. You can read every page without giving us anything.
- No accounts or forms. There is nothing to log in to and no box that asks for your name or email.
- No cookies or ad trackers. The site sets no cookies and doesn't save anything in your browser's storage. There are no ad networks, social media pixels, or embedded videos or maps.
- Nothing loaded from other companies. Our fonts and photos are served from paworpass.com itself, so opening a page doesn't contact a font or image service.
- The swipe demo stays on your device. The swipe demo on the home page runs in your browser. Your paws and passes aren't saved or sent anywhere.
Visit counts
Our hosting provider's built-in web analytics counts visits for us, without cookies. For each page view it records the page, the site that sent you (if any), your country, and your browser, operating system and device type. So one person isn't counted twice, it makes a short-lived code from your request, and that code resets every 24 hours. We only see totals, such as "120 visits to the cats page this week." We can't pick out you or any other visitor. If a content blocker stops the analytics script, the site works exactly the same.
Hosting logs
Like every website, paworpass.com runs on servers that see basic details each time your browser asks for a page: your IP address, the page requested, the time, your browser type and the page you came from. Our host and its content delivery network use these logs to deliver pages, fix errors and block abuse, and keep them for a limited time under their own policies. We don't use them to identify visitors or build profiles. Every page loads over an encrypted HTTPS connection.
Emails you send us
If you write to [email protected], we get your email address, your name if your mail app includes it, and whatever you write or attach. We use it only to answer you and keep track of the conversation. We don't add you to a mailing list, and we don't give or rent your address to anyone. Mail passes through our email forwarding service and our mail provider, which handle it under their own policies.
Want your messages gone? Email us from the same address and ask us to delete them. We'll delete the whole thread and send one short reply to confirm.
Your choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what personal data we hold, get a copy, correct it or have it deleted. The website itself doesn't collect personal data, so the only thing we're likely to hold is email you sent us. Ask at [email protected] and we'll reply from the same address.
Links to other sites
The footer links to our sponsors. If you click one, you leave paworpass.com and that site's own privacy policy applies. The site you land on can see that you came from paworpass.com, but not which page you were on. Our links carry no tracking codes.
The PawOrPass app
The app isn't out yet, so it collects nothing today. It will handle more than this website does: pet photos, paws with short notes, chats after a match, and a sense of where you are so distance filters work. We'll post the app's own privacy policy on this page before launch. It will explain what the app collects and why, who can see it, how precise location is, and how to delete your account and data. For the basics of the app itself, read how pet matching on PawOrPass works.
Children
This website isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them. If you think a child under 13 has emailed us, tell us at [email protected] and we'll delete the messages.
Changes and contact
If we change how the site handles data, we'll edit this page and the "Last updated" line at the top. Adding the app's policy before launch will be marked the same way. Questions about the PawOrPass privacy policy go to [email protected]. For anything else, see the PawOrPass support page or read about the PawOrPass project.
Common questions
Does paworpass.com use cookies?
No. The site sets no cookies and saves nothing in your browser's storage. Visit counts come from cookieless analytics that show us totals only.
Do I need an account to use the website?
No. There are no accounts, logins or forms on paworpass.com. You can read every page and try the swipe demo without giving us anything.
Does PawOrPass share my data with advertisers?
No. The site has no ads and no ad trackers, and we don't give or rent email addresses to anyone.
Where is the privacy policy for the app?
The app is coming soon, and its privacy policy will be posted on this page before launch. Until then the app collects nothing, because it isn't out yet.
