Terms of use

Coming soon. Claim your pet's spot

These are the rules for using PawOrPass, the swipe app for dogs, cats and horses, and this website. The short version: be 13 or older, post real photos of real animals, be kind to other people, and never post anything sexual, hateful, cruel or dishonest. We remove that content and the accounts behind it right away. You can report or block anyone from their profile, and you can delete your account from the app whenever you like.

In effect from . "We" means the PawOrPass team, "the app" means the PawOrPass app for iPhone and Android, and "the site" means paworpass.com. By signing in to the app or using the site, you agree to these terms and to our privacy policy. If you don't agree, please don't use PawOrPass.

Who can use PawOrPass

  • You must be 13 or older to make an account. We ask for your birthday at sign-up and never show it to anyone.
  • Some reasons for being here are 18 and older only: "Meet someone", being a breeder, and looking for a new pet from a breeder. The app hides those options and those profiles from anyone under 18.
  • One account per person, used by you. Don't share your sign-in or let anyone else use your account.
  • If we closed your account before for breaking these rules, you may not open another one.

Your account

You sign in with Apple, Google or a link we email you. Keep your email account safe, because anyone who can read it can sign in as you. Tell us at [email protected] right away if you think someone else got into your account. You're responsible for everything posted from it until you do.

What you post

Everything you add to PawOrPass is yours: photos, your pet's bio, notes on paws, messages. You give us permission to store it, show it to other people in the app the way the app works, and make copies so the app runs (for example, smaller versions of photos). That permission ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies in backups, which clear out on their own within about 30 days, and content we keep because it was reported.

Only post photos you took or have the right to use. Post real animals that you own, care for or breed. Don't post photos of other people without asking them, and never post anyone's private details.

Zero tolerance for objectionable content and abuse

PawOrPass is for everyone who loves animals, including teenagers, so the bar is simple: nothing objectionable, no abuse, no exceptions. We remove the content and close the account, usually without a warning. That means no:

  • Nudity or sexual content of any kind, including sexual comments in bios, notes or messages. The "Meet someone" part of the app is for meeting people who love animals, not for sexual content.
  • Harassment, threats, bullying, stalking or unwanted contact after someone stops replying or asks you to stop.
  • Hate against anyone for who they are.
  • Animal cruelty, fighting, neglect, or photos of hurt animals posted for shock.
  • Illegal animal trade. Breeders may show their animals and talk to interested people. Anything that breaks the law where you live is out, and so are wildlife, stolen animals, and dressing up a transaction as a rescue.
  • Scams, fake profiles, pretending to be someone else, spam, or links to anything shady.
  • Anything that breaks the law.

We filter new content and we read what gets reported. Reports are reviewed within 24 hours, and anyone who posts objectionable content or abuses another person is removed from PawOrPass.

Reporting and blocking

Every profile has a More button with Report and Block. Reporting sends the profile to us with your reason and blocks it for you at the same time. Blocking means the two of you never see each other again in the app, and any match and chat between you ends. You can also email [email protected] with a username and what happened. We look at every report within 24 hours and act on it.

Meeting people and animals safely

PawOrPass introduces people. We don't check who they are, we don't verify breeders, and we're not part of any playdate, handover, adoption or meetup that comes out of a match. Use your judgment: meet in public, bring a friend the first time, and never send money to someone you haven't met. If something feels wrong, stop, block, and tell us.

What PawOrPass is not

  • Not a marketplace. No payments happen in the app. Anything you arrange with a breeder or anyone else is between you and them.
  • Not veterinary, legal or breeding advice. Ask a professional.
  • Not responsible for other users. People post what they post. We remove what breaks the rules when we see it or when you report it.

Leaving

You can delete your account any time inside the app: Profile, Edit profile, Delete account. It removes your profile, your pet, your photos, your paws, matches, chats and follows. Details are on how to delete your PawOrPass account. We can also close accounts, with or without notice, for breaking these terms.

The service itself

PawOrPass costs nothing and is provided as is. We work hard to keep it running and to fix problems fast, but we can't promise it will always be available or without bugs, and we can change or stop features as the app grows. Where the law allows, we're not liable for losses that come from using the app or from what other people do on it.

Changes and contact

If these terms change in a way that matters, we'll update the "in effect from" line at the top and tell you in the app. Keeping on using PawOrPass after that means you accept the new terms. Questions go to [email protected]. The support page has help with the app, and the privacy policy explains what we collect and why.

Questions about the rules

How old do I have to be to use PawOrPass?

13 or older for the app. "Meet someone", being a breeder and looking for a new pet from a breeder are 18 and older only, and the app hides them from younger users.

What happens when I report someone?

The report reaches us with your reason, and the profile is blocked for you right away. We review every report within 24 hours and remove content and accounts that break the rules.

Can breeders find homes for puppies, kittens or foals on PawOrPass?

Breeders can show their animals and talk to interested people. There are no payments in the app, and anything you arrange must follow the law where you live. Scams and illegal animal trade get the account removed.

How do I delete my account?

In the app: Profile, Edit profile, Delete account. It removes your profile, pet, photos, paws, matches and chats. Or email [email protected] from your sign-in address.
